Integration of knowledge and practice.

Tottori University in a Nature-Rich Environment

Tottori is a beautiful region surrounded by mountains and the sea. Facing the Sea of Japan, it offers diverse coastal scenery such as sand dunes and rocky shores, as well as an abundance of fresh seafood. In winter, snow covers the area, allowing residents to experience the changing seasons of Japan in ways that are hard to find in big cities.

Located in this rich natural environment, Tottori University is a national university established in 1949. It consists of four faculties and five graduate schools, and its fundamental philosophy is the “integration of knowledge and practice.” The university emphasizes not only learning theories but also applying them through real-world experience, aiming to contribute to both local and global communities through education, research, and social engagement. Because of its unique academic fields and research areas not found elsewhere, students from around the world with diverse backgrounds, cultures, and values gather here every year.

Tottori University also provides many opportunities for international students to interact with Japanese students and local residents. Various events are held throughout the year, and through the Japanese Language Partner Program, Japanese students assist international students in their language learning and daily life. During classes, free time, or holidays, they exchange languages and cultures, creating meaningful cross-cultural friendships and understanding.
